Before disappearing into the American Heartland to tour for months at a time, Bari was a graduate of Syracuse University's Newhouse school. Landing her 1st job in television as the head researcher on the Jeffrey Dahmer trial for Court TV, she quickly realized that tracking serial killers for a 24-hour news network was a sure path to a nervous breakdown. So she decided to choose a different path to a nervous breakdown. Music.

Soon after leaving the television business she released JOY, her first collaboration with veteran producer Jimmy Bralower and Suzanne Vega's original touring and recording band. JOY was critically acclaimed, leading to hundreds of write-ups in local and national newspapers including a glowing full-page spotlight in Billboard Magazine.

After JOY, Bari's reputation starting to spread beyond NYC.

Landing a college-booking agent, Bari jumped into her car and began what would basically become a 3-year tour. She quickly became one of the highest grossing & popular acts on the college circuit and experienced life as a full time rock star in training. Very quietly, she has sold many thousands of CD's to her ever growing fan base.

The touring ranged from the sublime to the absurd, such as the time she was asked to back up Sponge Bob Square Pants, or the time she headlined heavy metal night (a very big bill mix-up). Bari drew on some of these insane road experiences to write her first novel (also called "Confessions of an Indiegirl"). This novella about life, the quest for the right man (that goes way off course), and a 5,000 step program towards success has just been completed. It has been chronicled as a diary on www.womenrock.com.

In the meantime, audiences kept returning to Bari for her captivating live shows. Her songs channel something fully universal through catchy pop hooks. Bari's voice possesses such warmth and emotion that it prompted one listener to describe it as the "sound of foreplay."

She was routinely pegged to appear alongside many well-known recording stars and has shared the stage with Lenny Kravitz, The Doobie Brothers, Joan Osborne, Norah Jones and many others. It was always the road where Bari would make fans and friends. She met the Jayhawks while touring in Iowa. Most of the popular alt-country band would come to play on "Confessions of an Indiegirl.

Spending her summers writing in Woodstock, NY, she met famed drummer Jerry Marrotta, whose regular work with the Indigo Girls and Sheryl Crow became a guiding force in recording all the basic tracks for "Confessions". Jerry brought in help from pals Bill Dillon (Sarah McLachlan) and Tony Levin.

Also in Woodstock, Bari met engineer/producer/drummer Pete Caigan. The two of them began production of "Confessions of an Indiegirl" at his FLYMAX Studio.

At a critical stage, Bari again hooked up with producer Jimmy Bralower who completed the recording and mixed the entire album. The result is constantly being hailed as a very rich and rewarding record.

"The more you do something, the better you get at it. All the touring allowed me to live the life. To constantly be writing and playing and performing. And my last record was like going to college. I learned a lot about how I wanted a recording to sound. I've always loved to sing, and guess it came naturally, but there is just a more mature awareness now about my voice and the song. The song, of course is king. And that is where I want to devote most of my energy, to writing special songs."
