What is a Small Business & Some Interesting Statistics.
Few Americans realize the important role that small businesses play in our economy, but the following statistics help to illustrate the point. Depositing Checks Digitally.
If you go to the bank primarily to deposit checks you may be able to save the gas and the time. Wells Fargo offers a service that allows you to scan your checks in and upload them to a secure site where they can be deposited without your leaving your office (hopefully your home office!). That means you can avoid bank lines, drive time, and otherwise interrupting your work day just to make deposits. Wells Fargo supplies the scanner at a cost of about $850.00 or you can lease it for about $33.00/mo. And, with the price of gas being what it is these days this could be a major cash and time saver for you. |

Receipt Scanner Simplifies Record Keeping.
Scanners that can scan business cards, and import the data into your contact manager have been around for some time now, and now that concept has been extended to receipts. Neat Receipts has created a hardware/software bundle that allows you to scan your receipts, and have the data retrieved and imported into expense reports, etc. The IRS permits you to get rid of the paper, according to Neat Receipts, provided that you have an appropriate backup and digital image of the receipt that does not require the program you created it in to view it. Neat Receipts will do that for you. If you're looking for a way to organize your record keeping digitally, this may be a great addition to your office. |

Overnight Radio, an Affordable Advertising Option for Home Business
Most home based business owners wouldn't think of advertising on the radio because it's typically too pricey. But, there is a way to do it cost effectively. Overnight radio time is often available in your market at rates as low as $10.00 per minute. Compare that to $400 per minute during primetime. Since frequency, and consistency are two of the most important components of a radio advertising campaign, getting your time ad $10.00 per minute will buy you a lot of spots. So, check out your market and don't underestimate the power of reaching out to late night listeners. Depending on what you sell that market could be perfect for you. |
